Description
It is a pre-bille fossil of Ichthyosaurus from Holzmaden, Germany, which is a world-famous fossil producing area.
From the size of the front fin, it is probable that this Ichthyosaurus was a very large individual with a body length of 8 to 10 meters.
Although it is a fossil of the front fin only, the fact is that such a large front fin fossil itself is rare and difficult to obtain.
It is a species of Eurhinosaurus Iongirostris.
Ikuchio South Ruth means “lizard like a fish”.
It is a kind of reptile (ichthyosaur) that lives in the sea.
It has a dolphin-like body shape and has no gills, so it sometimes had to go out to the surface for breathing.
It appeared in the early Triassic 245 million years ago and became extinct in the late Cretaceous 90 million years ago.
The smallest Ichthyosaurus is less than 1 meter, but some larger are over 20 meters.
